Violence is stupid

I was watching the news last night and I could not believe what the news station was covering. It was basically one shooting after another, consecutively up to 5 shootings deaths in a row! I am annoyed for two reasons.
- News stations cover way too much negative crap. They only cover bad news and therefore the public becomes fearful for their lives. "Oh that place had a shooting. I'm never going there again!" or "We need a gun too! To protect ourselves!" And this will cause more idiots to own guns and shoot at anything that they feel might be a threat. So everyone is now scared. If news stations covered positive news, who knows it might help people lighten up. I'm not asking for TeleTubby news or a Barney world. There are better news to cover instead of live coverage of a police pursuit that lasts an hour on TV only to end in a simple halt and arrest. News stations glamorize the pursuits and so people are more tempted to run, just to get on TV.
- Most of the shootings are "gang-related" so the news stations say. I have never been in a gang but here is what I have to say: Put down your guns and duke it out with your fists. Quit being pussies by using guns. As 311 says, "Guns are for pussies". Quit being scared and just beat them up if you are that pissed off. I don't know if you have heard, but shooting someone is illegal. If you just beat someone up, you are more likely to get off scout free if you are caught. Less penalty than killing someone. Also, by beating someone up instead of shooting them, will teach the other a little lesson in which they can live and learn from. Killing them may briefly end the problem with that particular person but you are more likely to upset even more family members and local residents than just giving someone a beating. If were to live from a beating from one person, I definitely would learn from the situation and prevent provoking the enemy again.
All of these shootings makes the US the most trigger happy nation, resulting in the highest deaths by handguns, IN THE WORLD! If the government takes away your guns, it won't necessarily solve the problem and it also breaks our right to bear arms. As Michael (director of Bowling for Columbine & Roger and Me), presented in his movie Bowling for Columbine, Canada has more guns but has much much fewer deaths than the US. Is everyone happier up there? Not too many Canadians have reasons for locking their doors either. Why is the US so much more in fear? No, its not violent films because all the nations in the world all watch the same number of violent movies that we do.
